Reaction Steps

7.2 g (0.04 mol) of 4-(2-pyrrolyl)-carbonyl-γ-butyrolactone and 2.5 ml (0.05 mol) of hydrazine hydrate are stirred in ethanol at room temperature for 4 hours. The product which has crystallised out is filtered off with suction and rinsed with ethanol.
