5 ml of 2-methoxy-ethylamine were added all at once to a suspension of N-cyano-N'-[4-(imidazol-4-yl)-phenyl]-formamidine (1.8 g) in water (2 ml). When the exothermic reaction subsided, a solution was obtained from which the title compound quickly crystallized out. The product was filtered off and purified via its maleate in acetone.
