A mixture of 17g (0.15 mole) allyl diethyl amine and 30.7g (0.165 mole, 10% excess) of diphenyl phosphine is reacted in the usual manner with u.v. irradiation for hours. A subsequent analysis of the reaction mixture indicated that about one third of the reactants was converted. The only product formed was the desired adduct, 2-diethylaminopropyl diphenylphosphine. It was isolated as a clear colorless liquid (Table 3).
