Procedure
45 g (0.35 mole) of 2-isopropyl-4-oxo-imidazolidine (Example 3) were dissolved in 250 ml of methyl tert.-butyl ether, 17.2 g (0.43 mole) of sodium hydroxide in 20 ml of water were added, and 57 g (0.39 mole) of dichloroacetyl chloride were then added dropwise at from 10° to 15° C. The mixture was stirred for 10 hours and the solid precipitate was filtered off with suction, washed with water and dried under reduced pressure to give 41 g (49% of theory) of 1-dichloroacetyl-2-isopropyl-4-oxo-imidazolidine of melting point 172°-173° C.
