Procedure

8.8 gr of 2,3-dihydro-6-propionylbenzo[b]furane in 50 ml of anhydrous THF are treated with 2.6 ml of bromine according with already described process. The product so obtained is recrystallized from methanol: 8 gr of 6-(α-bromopropionyl)-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]furane are obtained.
