To a solution of the product of Example A (0.5 g, 1.84 mmol) in methylene chloride (15 mL), m-chloroperbenzoic acid (485 mg. 85%, 2.38 mmol) was added. After stirring at room temperature for 18 h, the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The colorless liquid obtained was then chromatographed (silica gel, methylene chloride/methanol 94/6) to give the title compound (460 mg, 87%). 1H NMR (CDCl3) 1.4-2.2(m, 16H), 2.53 (s, 3H), 3.6-3.85 (m,2H), 7.16(dd, J=3, 8 Hz, 1H), 7.25 (d,J=8 Hz, 1H), and 8.24 ppm (d, J=3 Hz, 1H).
