The title compound was prepared from (E)-(S)-ethyl 2-ethoxy-3-[4-(3-[1,1′;3′,1″]terphenyl-5′-yl-allyloxy)-phenyl]-propionate (Example 109) (405 mg, 0.8 mmol) and sodium hydroxide (1M, 1.6 ml, 1.6 mmol) by a procedure analogous to that described in example 51, yielding (E)-(S)-2-ethoxy-3-[4-(3-[1,1′;3′,1″]terphenyl-5′-yl-allyloxy)-phenyl]-propionic acid (352 mg, 92%) as a colourless glass.
