Procedure
5.2 Parts of 2-amino-6-(4-amino-3-isopropylphenyl)-6-methylheptane in 61 parts of 1N aqueous hydrochloric acid were hydrogenated at room temperature and atmospheric pressure using 1.0 parts of Nishimura catalyst. Thereafter at 7 and 24 hours respectively further 1.0 and 0.5 part additions of catalyst was made and the hydrogenation was complete after 46 hours with a 103% theory uptake. The work up followed Example 1, and gave, on distillation, 4.2 parts 2-amino-6-(4-amino-3-isopropylcyclohexyl)-6-methylheptane b12 182°-4° with the following percentage composition by weight.
