Procedure
To a mixture of 7-(3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-propoxy)-4-oxo-4H-quinolizine-2-carboxylic acid (18 mg, 0.050 mmol) in anhydrous dichloromethane (1 ml) under nitrogen atmosphere was added trifluoroacetic acid (1 ml). The mixture was stirred for 2 hours at room temperature, concentrated and triturated with ether to give 17.3 mg (92% yield) of desired compound as a yellow solid which was characterized by 1HNMR (300 MHz, CD3OD) δ: 2.22-2.29 (m, 2H), 3.20-3.23 (m, 2H), 4.28-4.31 (m, 2H) 7.09 (d, J=1.5 Hz, 1H), 7.46-7.49 (dd, J=9.5 and 2.5 Hz, 1H) 7.52 (s, 1H), 7.90 (d, J=9.5 Hz, 1H), 8.71 (s, 1H).
