Procedure

To a solution of ethyl 3-ethoxy-7-(4-(hydroxymethyl)imidazole-1-yl)-6-nitroquinoxaline-2-carboxylate&Asteriskpseud;A (2.00 g, 5.16 mmol) in ethanol (200 ml) was added 10% palladium on carbon (200 mg), and the mixture was stirred for 4 hours at room temperature under hydrogen atmosphere (4 atm, 392 KPa). After completion of reaction, N,N-dimethylformamide was added to the reaction mixture to dissolve the precipitated crystals and then catalyst was filtered off using celite. By distilling off solvent, 1.89 g of title compound were obtained as yellow powder. The yield was quantitative.
