Procedure
Piperazine (92 mg, 1.07 mmol) was added to a stirred suspension of 2,3-dichlorothieno[3,4-b]pyrazine (110 mg, 0.54 mmol) in EtOH (5 mL) at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at reflux for 16 h and filtered. The solid was purified by chromatography on silica gel (gradient: PhMe to PhMe/MeOH/Et3N, 8:1:1) to give 40 mg (29%) of the product as an orange solid. The material was used without further purification in the next step.
