(7.5 m moles) of 3-phenacylthio-5-trifluoromethylbenzoic acid and .75 ml. of 30% hydrogen peroxide in 15 ml. of acetic acid is heated on a steam bath for 1 hour, after which the reaction mixture is cooled and diluted with water to the turbidity point. The crystalline product which forms on standing is filtered, 1.0 g., m.p. 148°-151° C., and finally recrystallized from acetone-isopropyl ether, 850 mg., m.p. 154°-155° C.
