Procedure

Quinazolone Z.8 (817 mg, 3.36 mmol) is combined with SOCl2 (20 mL) and DMF (0.05 mL) and heated to 80° C. for 2 h. The solvent is removed and quinazoline D*.3 (879 mg, 100%) is obtained.
