Procedure

3′-Chloro-3-fluoro-4′-[3,3,3-trifluoro-2-hydroxy-1-methyl-2-(3-methyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzooxazol-6-yl)-propyl]-biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid methyl ester (60 mg, obtained in Example 134, step 1) was dissolved in THF (4 mL) followed by the addition of aqueous LiOH solution (1.0M, 0.145 mL). The mixture was stirred over night at r.t. The reaction mixture was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The aqueous phase was acidified with 2 M aqueous HCl to pH 1 and extracted three times with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4 and the solvent was evaporated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography (silica gel, CH2Cl2:MeOH=7:3 to 1:1) to give the title compound as a brown solid (13 mg, 22%). MS (neg. ion, m/e)=522.2 [(M−H)−].
