Procedure

To 3-bromo-1-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (0.496 g, 1.609 mmol), methyl 2-methyl-4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)benzoate (0.466 g, 1.689 mmol), sodium bicarbonate (0.405 g, 4.83 mmol) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (0.186 g, 0.161 mmol) in a 2.0 mL microwave vial was added dioxane (6 mL) and water (1.5 mL). The reaction was capped and placed on a Biotage® Initiator microwave reactor for 30 min at 140° C. The reaction mixture was then diluted with EtOAc and washed with water. The aqueous layer was extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated. Purification by flash column chromatography provided the title compound as a white solid (0.376 g, 0.997 mmol, 62%): 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 8.59 (s, 1H), 8.10 (dt, J=1.6, 0.7 Hz, 1H), 8.09-8.00 (m, 2H), 7.84-7.78 (m, 2H), 7.44-7.37 (m, 2H), 3.93 (s, 3H), 2.70 (s, 3H); 19F NMR (376 MHz, CDCl3) δ −58.02; ESIMS m/z 378 ([M+H]+).
