To a solution of 5-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-7-chloro-1-(4-cyclohexyl-benzoyl)-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzazepine (2 g) in ethanol (20 ml) is added a 5N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (5 ml), and the mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight.
