Procedure
A mixture of 4-[2-[3-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)prop-1-yl]oxybenzoyl]amino-3-methoxy-N-[2-(4-aminobut-1-yl)oxy-4-methylphenyl]-N-methylbenzamide (120 mg) and 3-(dimethylamino)prop-1-yl phenyl carbonate (127 mg) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 ml) was stirred at 50° C. for 8 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (15 ml) and the solution was washed successively with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution and brine. The solution was dried over potassium carbonate. The solvent was evaporated and the residue was purified on silica gel column chromatography (SiO2 20 g, 3-15% methanol in chloroform) to give 4-[2-[3-(tert-butoxycarbonylamino)prop-1-yl]oxybenzoyl]amino-3-methoxy-N-[2-(3-dimethylaminoprop-1-yl)oxycarbonylamino]but-1-yl]oxy-4-methylphenyl]-N-methylbenzamide (64 mg).
