Procedure
200 mg of the compound [1-1] was dissolved in 4 mL of tetrahydrofuran, and the mixture was cooled to −78° C. and then 626 μL of n-butyllithium (2.66 M hexane solution) was added thereto. After a 1 hour stirring at the same temperature, 0.6 mL of tetrahydrofuran solution containing 177 mg of the compound [2-1] was added thereto, and the mixture was further stirred for 2 hours. To the reaction mixture was added a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The resulting organic layer was washed with saturated brine and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The insolubles were filtered, the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane/ethyl acetate=6/4), to obtain 36.2 mg of benzyl[2-(4-{(1S)-1-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]ethyl}phenyl)-2-oxoethyl]methylcarbamate [2-2] (hereinafter, referred to as the compound [2-2]) as a colorless oily product.
