To a stirred solution of the compound (0.22 g, 0.63 mmol) obtained in step I, in EtOAc (2.0 mL) cooled to ice bath temperature was added a solution of dry HCl in EtOAc (3 N, 4 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at same temperature for 2 h and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to obtain a crude product, which was triturated several times with diethyl ether to obtain 1-(thiomorpholin-4-ylmethyl) tricyclo[3.3.1.03,7]nonan-3-amine hydrochloride salt (180 mg) in 88% yield.
