4-Chloro-3-(4-chloro-2-fluoro-5hydroxyphenyl)-1-methyl-5-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole (prepared according to the procedure as described in U.S. Pat. No. 5,281,571) (0.25 g, 0.76 mMol) was dissolved in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 ml) and potassium carbonate (0.13 g, 0.91 mMol) and 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxytriazine (0.16 g, 0.91 mMol) were added. The suspension was stirred at 90° C. for 2 hours under a nitrogen atmosphere and processed. The residue was subjected to column chromatography on silica gel eluting with methylene chloride:methanol, 99:1, to give the title compound (0.29 g, 81.6%). 1H NMR (CDCl3, TMS): 4.01 (6H, s), 4.07 (3H, m), 7.35 (1H, d, J=9.1 Hz), 7.45 (1H, d, J=6.6 Hz).
