1.5 g of 2,4,5-triphenylimidazole, 1.9 g of 4′-bromomethylbiphenyl-2-sulfonic acid dimethylaminomethylenamide (J. Med. Chem. 1995, 38, 2357) and 2.1 g of K2CO3 are stirred at RT for 6 days in 50 ml of DMF. The reaction mixture is poured onto 300 ml of water and extracted with 500 ml of EA. The organic phase is washed 3 times with 250 ml of a saturated aqueous NaCl solution each time and dried over Na2SO4, and the solvent is removed in vacuo. 2.8 g of a viscous oil are obtained.
