Procedure

A saturated solution of HCl in 1,4-dioxane (1.2 mmoL) was added to a solution of 1-(5-chloro-4-((4-fluorobenzylamino)methyl)-2-methoxyphenyl)-3-(5-cyanopyrazin-2-yl)urea (1 mmol) in DCM (50 mL) at 5° C. The reaction mixture was stirred at 5° C. for 2 hours then n-pentane (100 mL) was added and stirring continued for 15 minutes. The resulting solid was collected by filtration then washed with methanol (2×10 mL), followed by n-pentane (10 mL) and dried under reduced pressure to give the title compound (56%) as a white solid.
