To a solution of 6-chloro-5-cyclopropyl-2-(2-isopropoxyethoxy)nicotinamide (180 mg, 0.6 mmol) in acetonitrile (20 mL) was added POCl3 (276 mg, 1.8 mmol) and pyridine (285 mg, 3.6 mmol). After stirred at r.t for 2 hrs, the mixture was poured into aq. NaHCO3, extracted with EtOAc. The separated organics was dried and concentrated in vacuo to afford crude 6-chloro-5-cyclopropyl-2-(2-isopropoxyethoxy)nicotinonitrile (150 mg).
