To 1.24 g of 8-chloro-4-phenyl-2(1H)-quinazolinone (compound No. II-11) was added 6.65 g of phosphorus oxychloride, followed by stirring at 95° C. for 1 hour. The resulting reaction solution was poured into 200 ml of ice water, and sodium bicarbonate was then added, thereby adjusting the pH to 9. Then, precipitated crystals were collected by filtration. The collected product was recrystallized from ethanol to obtain 1.07 g of the titled compound. Mp.154.4.° C. 1H NMR (CDCl3): 7.52-7.65 (4H, m), 7.76-7.80 (2H, m), 8.02-8.08 (2H, m).
