[4-(2-Cyclopropyl-2-hydroxy-2-phenyl-ethyl)-pyridin-2-yl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (280 mg, 0.79 mmol) and 4-dimethylaminopyridine (97 mg, 0.79 mmol) are dissovled in pyridine (3.0 mL) and thionyl chloride (0.12 mL, 1.6 mmol) is added at 0° C. After the mixture is stirred for 3 hrs at room temperature, saturated NaHCO3 aqueous solution (4 mL) is added along with water (20 ml). The mixture is extracted with EtOAc (3×25 mL) and the organic layers are combined and concentrated to give the crude product. Purification by silica flash column chromatography using MeOH in DCM (gradient from 0% to 6%) affords 94 mg of the desired product.
