A solution of 4-((dimethylamino)methyl)-4-methyloxazolidin-2-one (1.07 g, 6.76 mmol) and ethyl iodide (2.0 ml, 25 mmol) in MeOH (10 ml) in a sealed tube was heated to 70° C. for 16 h, then cooled to RT, and diluted with water (20 ml). Silver (I) oxide (470 mg, 2.03 mmol) was added, then 1.0 M HCl in H2O (ca. 1.5 ml) until the pH of the solution was neutral (6.5). The solution was filtered through Celite, and evaporated. ESI/APCI expected for C9H19N2O2+: 187.14. Found: 187.
