To a solution of the product obtained in Step 3 (1.5 g) in acetone (12 ml) was added 1N hydrochloric acid (2.6 ml), and the resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 3.5 hours. Ethyl acetate was added to the solution, and the organic layer was washed with water, 5% sodium bicarbonate solution and brine in that order, and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The dried solution was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography, giving 1.06 g of the objective compound as milky white crystals.
