Procedure

A solution of N-trifluoroacetyl-8-bromo-7-hydroxy-1-methyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-3-benzazepine (0.150 g, 0.426 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL) was treated with allyl bromide (0.155 g, 1.28 mmol) and DBU (0.195 g, 1.28 mmol) and then stirred 2 hours at 20° C. The product mixture was diluted with EtOAc (50 mL), washed with 5% aqueous HCl (20 mL), brine (20 mL), dried with Na2SO4 and concentrated. Flash chromatography (15% EtOAc in hexane, silica) resulted in 0.149 g of a clear oil. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3, mixture of rotamers) δ 7.34 (s, 1H), 6.65 (m, 1H), 6.04 (m, 1H), 5.47 (d, J=17 Hz, 1H), 5.30 (d, J=9 Hz, 1H), 4.59 (s, 2H), 3.80 (m, 1H), 3.6-3.3 (m, 3H), 3.2-2.8 (m, 4H), 1.31 (m, 3H). MS calculated for C16H17BrF3NO2+H: 392, observed: 392.

Workup

  1. washwashed with 5% aqueous HCl (20 mL), brine (20 mL)
