A solution of crude (E)-ethyl 8-((hydroxyimino)methyl)indolizine-5-carboxylate (0.46 mmol) in THF (5 mL) was added slowly to a stirred solution of iodobenzene diacetate, (PhI(OAc)2, DIB, 296 mg, 0.92 mmol) and 1,3-dichloro-5-(3,3,3-trifluoroprop-1-en-2-yl)benzene (222 mg, 0.92 mmol) in THF (10 mL) at rt. The mixture was stirred for 1 h at rt. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the crude product was purified by prep-TLC and then combiflash to give ethyl 8-(5-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-5-(trifluoromethyl)-4,5-dihydroisoxazol-3-yl)indolizine-5-carboxylate (50 mg, yield 23% over 2 steps). 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6): δ 8.66 (t, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.84 (t, J=2.0 Hz, 1H), 7.68-7.71 (m, 3H), 7.25-7.27 (m, 2H), 7.06 (m, 1H), 4.43-4.56 (m, 4H), 1.41 (t, J=2.0 Hz, 3H) ppm; MS: m/z=471.7 (M+1, ESI+).
