A mixture of 2-chloro-5-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)oxazole 31 (0.511 g, 2.06 mmol) and commercially available 3-aminophenol 8 (0.225 g, 2.06 mmol) in 2-propanol (20 mL) was heated to 80° C. for 14 h with stirring. Upon cooling, solvent was evaporated and silica column purified (Biotage) (Acetone/hexane as an eluent) to provide 3-((5-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)oxazol-2-yl)amino)phenol 32 (0.26 g, 40% yield) as a solid. MS (ES) m/z 321 (M+H+).
