A solution of (+/−)-12-Aza-tricyclo[7.2.1.0*2,7*]dodeca-2(7),3,5-trien-4-ylamine (150 mg, 0.86 mmol) in acetone (4 mL) was treated with ethyl iodide (0.07 mL, 0.86 mmol), potassium carbonate (237 mg, 1.72 mmol) and stirred for 1 h. The mixture was partitioned between dichloromethane and brine and the organic layer dried (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated to give (+/−)-12-Ethyl-12-aza-tricyclo[7.2.1.0*2,7*]dodeca-2(7),3,5-trien-4-ylamine which was used without further purification.
