Into a round bottom flask was added 2-amino-N-ethyl-3-fluoro-benzamide (2.00 g, 11.0 mmol) and N-methylpyrrolidinone (10 mL, 100 mmol). N,N-diisopropylethylamine (2.29 mL, 13.2 mmol) was added followed by 2,4,5-trichloro-pyrimidine (1.51 mL, 13.2 mmol) and the mixture was heated at 100° C. for 24 hours. The reaction mixture was then concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was taken up in DCM (50 mL) and washed with water (50 mL). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure. Purification by amine capped silica gel chromatography using a gradient of 0-70% EtOAc/hex as the eluting solvent. The product was placed in hexane and stirred overnight. The mixture was filtered to obtain 2-(2,5-Dichloro-pyrimidin-4-ylamino)-N-ethyl-3-fluoro-benzamide as a yellow solid (1.79 g, 50%). m.p.=233-234° C.; LCMS (m/e) 329 (M+H); 1H-NMR (CDCl3, 400 MHz) δ 9.33 (s, 1H), 8.22 (s, 1H), 7.40-7.22 (m, 3H), 6.20-6.10 (m, 1H), 3.53-3.42 (m, 2H), 1.25 (t, 3H, J=7.3 Hz).
