Procedure

A mixture of methyl (S)-6-bromo-5-(4-fluorophenoxy)-2-methyl-3,4-dihydroquinoline-1(2H)-carboxylate (0.100 g, 0.254 mmol), tert-butyl 3-(4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)azetidine-1-carboxylate (0.106 g, 0.304 mmol), XPhos Precatalyst 2nd Generation (0.004 g, 0.005 mmol), and cesium carbonate (0.246 g, 0.761 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane (2.0 mL) and water (0.40 mL) was heated at 100° C. for 16 h. The reaction mixture was filtered through Celite and concentrated to afford a green oil. This material was purified via column chromatography on silica gel (Biotage 10 g column, gradient elution with 25-50% ethyl acetate-hexane) to afford methyl (S)-6-(1-(1-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)azetidin-3-yl)-1H-pyrazol-4-yl)-5-(4-fluorophenoxy)-2-methyl-3,4-dihydroquinoline-1(2H)-carboxylate (0.098 g, 72%) as a colorless oil. MS (ESI, pos. ion) m/z 537 [M+H]+.
