A solution of compound 5′-(3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-yl)-7′-methoxyspiro[[1,3]dioxolane-2,3′-indolin]-2′-one (57 mg, 0.18 mmol), acetic acid (1 mL), and hydrogen chloride solution (4 mL) was heated to 90° C. After 1.5 h, the mixture was cooled, EtOAc (20 mL) was added, washed with brine (15 mL×3), dried over Na2SO4, concentrated in vacuo to give the expected compound 5-(3,5-dimethylisoxazol-4-yl)-7-methoxyindoline-2,3-dione as a dark red solid (50 mg, crude, 102%). This material was used in the next step without further purification. MS (ESI) m/e [M+1]+ 273.
