To a solution of 6-((tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)oxy)hexahydrofuro[3,2-b]furan-3-amine (2.8 g, 12.2 mmol) in DCM (50 mL) was added a solution of HCl in EtOAc (15 mL, 3.8M), and the mixture was stirred at rt overnight and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was washed with DCM (50 mL), and then dried in vacuo at 60° C. overnight to give the crude product as a brown solid (3.3 g, not pure).
