To a solution of (S)-1-((R)-9-amino-4-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-benzo[b][1,4]thiazepin-3-ylcarbamoyl)-ethyl-methyl-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (1.5 g, 3.9 mmol) in DMF (25 mL) was added K2CO3 (2.6 g, 19.0 mmol) and 1-bromomethyl-naphthalene (631 mg, 2.9 mmol) in DMF (10 mL) was added dropwise. After 36 h, the mixture was diluted with sat. aq. citric acid and extracted with EtOAc. The combined extracts were washed with H2O, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography to give the title compound (1.3 g, 81%).
