A mixture of Intermediate A (500 mg, 0.82 mmol), 2-chloropyrimidine (343 mg, 3.0 mmol), 60% NaH (60 mg, 1.5 mmol), and dimethylformamide (10 mL) was stirred under argon and heated at 120° C. for 20 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into water (100 mL) and extracted with dichloromethane (4×100 mL). The extract was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, the volatiles were removed under reduced pressure, and the residue was chromatographed using silica gel and dichloromethane/ethyl acetate (95:5) as an eluent. The obtained product was recrystallized from ethanol to give 4,7-bis(4-(N,N-diphenylamino)phenyl)-2-(pyrimidin-2-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazole (Compound 1), orange crystals, 340 mg (61%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 8.99 (d, J=5.1 Hz, 2H, pyrimidine), 8.02 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 4H, p-phenylene), 7.66 (s, 2H, benzotriazole), 7.47 (t, J=4.8 Hz, 1H, pyrimidine), 7.28 (m, 8H, Ph), 7.21 (d, J=8.4 Hz, 4H, p-phenylene), 7.18 (m, 8H, Ph), 7.05 (tt, J=7.3 and 1.1 Hz, 4H, Ph). UV-vis spectrum (dichloromethane): λmax=451 nm. Fluorimetry (dichloromethane): λmax=600 nm.
