PROCEDURE

Prepared according to Procedure C using Intermediate 2b (200 mg, 0.519 mmol), 6-mercaptopurine monohydrate (97 mg, 0.570 mmol), K2CO3 (79 mg, 0.572 mmol), and DMF (5 mL). The crude product was recrystallized from EtOH to provide 123 mg of an off-white solid (47%), mp 212-242° C. (gradually decomposes). 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ: 13.07 (br s, 1H); 8.48 (s, 1H); 8.44 (s, 1H); 8.24 (d, J=2.3 Hz, 1H); 8.06 (dd, J=2.3, 8.7 Hz, 1H); 7.76 (dd, J=1.9, 7.4 Hz, 1H); 7.70 (d, J=8.7 Hz, 1H); 7.66 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 1H); 7.51 (dd, J=2.1, 7.9 Hz, 1H); 7.46 (dd, J=1.9, 7.9 Hz, 1H); 4.47 (s, 2H). 13C NMR (DMSO-d6) ppm: 159.7, 156.8, 153.6, 151.5, 146.1, 143.6, 138.5, 134.0, 132.1, 131.8, 131.5, 130.5, 130.2, 129.9, 128.9, 128.8, 122.2, 120.3, 32.0. MS (ES): m/z 499.0 (M+). Anal. calcd. for C20H12ClBrN6OS.0.2C2H6O.0.05KCl: C, 47.79; H, 2.59; N, 16.39; S, 6.25. Found: C, 47.56; H, 2.54; N, 16.25; S, 6.58.
