Procedure
A mixture of intermediate 22 (0.027 mol) and CH3SO3H (0.03 mol) in THF (200 ml) was hydrogenated with palladium on activated carbon (10%, 2 g) as a catalyst. After uptake of hydrogen, the catalyst was filtered off, yielding (±)-5-(phenylmethyl)-3-pyrrolidinone methanesulfonate(1:1) (intermediate 23).
Workup
- filtrationAfter uptake of hydrogen, the catalyst was filtered off
