Procedure

To mixture of (3,4-diChloro-phenyl)-acetic acid 10.3 g and pyridine-4-carbaldehyde 5.25 mL was added acetic anhydride 6 mL and pyridine 6 mL. The reaction mixture was heated to 120° C. for 2 hours and cooled down to room temperature. Water and ethyl acetate were added. The solid formed was filtered, washed with water and ethyl acetate and dried to afford the title compound 10.2 g as a light yellow solid. MS (ES+): 292 (M+H)+.
