Procedure

A mixture of 12.4 g of 2-(methylmercaptoacetylamino)-4-[(2-methylpropyl)thio]nitrobenzene, 1.3 g PtO2 and 200 ml of ethanol is reduced on the Parr hydrogenator at 50 psi until the required amount of H2 is absorbed. The mixture is filtered, the solvent removed and the residue used immediately in the next reaction.
