14.86 g (40 mmol) of the bis[2-(benzyloxycarbonylamino)-ethyl]-amine described in Example 1a and 20.24 g (200 mmol) of triethylamine are dissolved in dimethylformamide and mixed with 4.96 g (20 mmol) of 5-nitro-isophthalic acid dichloride (J. Chem. Soc. 1957, 1172-1175) and stirred overnight at room temperature. The solution is concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum and the residue is chromatographed with ethyl acetate on silica gel.
