PROCEDURE

Using Method D above, methyl 4-pentynoate (163 mg, 1.45 mmol) (see below) was coupled with (Z)-4-bromo-1,3-dihydro-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylene]-2H-indol-2-one (300 mg, 1.03 mmol) (Starting Material 1 supra) using (Ph3P)2PdCl2 (30 mg) and Cul (15 mg) as catalyst in DMF (5 mL) and Et3N (5 mL) as solvent at 70° C. for 14 h to yield (Z)-5-[2,3-dihydro-3-[(3-methoxy-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)methylene]-2-oxo-1H-indol-4-yl]-4-pentynoic acid methyl ester. (Yield 120 mg, 33%).
