A mixture of tributylamine (3.64 ml, 25.16 mmol), palladium diacetate (74 mg, 0.33 mmol), formic acid (0.28 ml, 7.28 mmol) and methyl 5-[1-(3-iodo-5,5,8,8-tetramethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphthalen-2-yloxymethyl)-vinyl]-3-thiophenecarboxylate (3.38 g, 6.62 mmol) in acetonitrile (100 ml), was heated at 60° C. for 4 h. The reaction medium was concentrated in a rotary evaporator under vacuum at 40° C., treated with water and extracted with ethyl ether. After decantation, the organic phase was washed twice with water, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated in a rotary evaporator under vacuum at 40° C.
