Procedure
5.66 g (15 mmols) of Z-Val-Leu-OMe are hydrogenated in 75 ml of methanol in the presence of 15 mmols of hydrochloric acid and 850 mg of Pd-charcoal (10%) at room temperature. The hydroen uptake has finished after 3 hours. The catalyst is filtered off and the solution is concentrated to about 15 ml. On addition of ether, the product crystallises out. Melting point 136° - 139°C.
