Procedure
Following the procedure of Example 6, Step 1, but using ethyl 1-(p-chlorobenzyl)-3-phenylthio -5-(i-propyl)-indole-2-acetate (Example 10, Step 1) as the starting material, lithium diisopropylamide as base, and tetrahydrofuran as solvent, ethyl 1-(p-chlorobenzyl)-α-methyl-3-phenylthio-5-(i-propyl)-indole-2-acetate was prepared.
