A mixture of Methyl-1-chloro-6-difluoromethyloxybenzo[4,5]furo[3,2-c]pyridine-9-carboxylate (8.0 g), ammonium hydroxide (2.0 mL) and 10% Pd/C (4.0 g) in a mixture of methanol (100 mL) and dimethylformamide (5.0 mL) was hydrogenated in a Parr apparatus at 40-45 psi of hydrogen for 5-6 hrs. catalyst was removed by filtration and residue obtained was diluted with water. The solid product obtained was filtered and dried. Yield=6.5 g.
