A stirred solution of [4-({3-[4-(biphenyl-2-ylcarbamoyloxy)piperidin-1-yl]propionyl}methylamino)phenyl]acetic acid methyl ester (8.00 g, 15.1 mmol) and lithium hydroxide (1.81 g, 75.5 mmol) in acetonitrile (20.0 mL) and water (20.0 mL) was heated at 60° C. for 3 h. The pH of the reaction mixture was adjusted to pH 5 with aqueous hydrochloric acid (1 M) and the mixture was extracted with DCM. The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (0-20% MeOH in DCM) to give the title compound (6.7 g, 86% yield) as an off-white solid.
