Procedure
1.1 ml of triethylamine and then 0.52 ml of acetic anhydride are added to a suspension of 0.8 g of 8-aminomethyl-5H,10H-imidazo[1,2-a]indeno[1,2-e]pyrazin-4-one hydrochloride in 20 ml of dimethylformamide. After reacting for 18 hours at a temperature in the region of 20° C., the reaction mixture is filtered and the solid is washed successively with dimethylformamide, distilled water and acetone and then dried under reduced pressure (1 mbar) at 50° C. 0.81 g of N-[(4,5-dihydro-4-oxo-10H-imidazo[1,2-a]indeno[l,2-e]pyrazin-8-yl)methyl]acetamide is thus obtained in the form of a white solid melting above 260° C. (Analysis; % Calculated C: 65.30, H: 4.79, N: 19.04; % Found C: 65.3, H: 4.8, N: 18:7).
