5.0 ml of a 4N solution of hydrogen chloride in dioxane were added to a solution of 5.00 g of 3-(2-hydroxy-3-morpholinopropoxy)-5-phenylisoxazole (prepared as described in Example 19) in 200 ml of ethyl acetate, and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes. At the end of this time, the reaction mixture was concentrated by evaporation under reduced pressure, and the resulting solid residue was recrystallized from ethyl acetate, to give 5.21 g (yield 93.0%) of the title compound as a colorless powder, melting at 149°-150° C.
